Yesterday morning, I was disappointed by the weight that didn't come off. When I bought the new scale, I didn't think it would show a loss, but it did! It's just now sinking into me that I've lost 16 1/2 pounds. No wonder I could zip up my favorite pants. I suppose I am gaining muscle, too, and I have to consider that. I also have to remember that I'm Peri-menopausal, and it will come off a little slower than my Hubby - who has lost ...
32 pounds!
In the same time that I have lost almost exactly half that, he has dropped it like it's hot. He even had fast food for breakfast this morning. Anyway, he asked me to do a Live Strong (.com) profile for him, and after we put in all he ate today, he could see where the lows and highs were, and was shocked at the breakfast statistics. The site is fantastic, and I wish I had started using it earlier.
What we're doing: eating as much fresh food as possible, making it all ourselves, exercising, not eating out, and staying away from "super" stores and grocery stores. We can get almost everything we need from The Farmer's Market and the butcher. We're lucky we have local food, and it's even closer to us than the grocery store, which has many, many temptations. We don't use a lot of fat when cooking - only a bit of olive oil or real butter. (I've never gone over my fat grams in a day.) That's the thing about Live Strong: it covers all your nutrients based on your calorie count, which is based on your weight, height, and the amount of pounds you want to lose in a week.
I put in 5 pounds a week. It told me to try again, because the calorie count would be too low. Good site, right? I put in "3," and it took it. I eat 1,350 calories a day, and my doctor told me today that 1,400 was about right. I am pleased with what I'm eating - sample day's diet to follow .... tomorrow!

Congrats on the weight loss! It's never a straight forward journey and it always seems like men can lose weight faster than us women. Bummer. It's good that you have a partner in the weight loss journey though!
