I is for "I Don't Want To"

"I don't want to exercise, eat right, or take care of myself."  That's depression talking, and if you think you can be 300 pounds and not be sad about it, you're very wrong.  It's a cycle of feeling bad about the weight and then eating to make yourself feel better, only making you bigger.  The "I don't want to" attitude comes from frustration, and it doesn't make it any better when people are on your back.

However, the not wanting to at my age is really childish.  I mean, it's time to get the weight off, you know?  It doesn't mean that I don't have those feelings of quitting, it just means that the road is long, and sometimes you just want to take a break.  The problem is, exercise only works if you do some every day.  The mental part of working out can be soved by simply doing it.  I always feel better after working out; it's just making myself do it.

Anyone got ideas for non-food rewards?  Small ones.

  1. Oh, I wish I had some wonderful, spiritual, sage advice but I am sure you have heard it all too. I have to admit I am not fond of exercising either but my brain knows it must get done or,well, yikes. So, here is hoping your "I don't want to" passes.

  2. I know the "I don't want to" monster too! It's tough not to listen. But that's what you gotta do, at least that's what works for me. Tune it out and just do it...don't think about it - just do it. Then the "I want this" and "I am doing this" twins start talking.

Good luck! Go A to Z!!

    1. Jess, thank you for all your great comments on this and the other ones. I appreciate that you love the blog and are following! Great that your daughter lost all that! You can, too. I don't want to was my middle name too, but I just got back from the Farmer's Market. Can you believe that? Old sedentary me. I just got married in June, and I want more years than this body will give me. You know? :)
