Overheating...

Record high temperatures across the country, and we are all sweating our butts off.  It's easy to get overheated in this weather while doing anything, even just taking a walk - if it's at the wrong time of day...

There are ways to combat the heat and still get in some exercise.  Go in the morning or evening hours.  We have sunshine till late for a reason.

DRINK WATER.  Most people don't realize how crucial it is.  I tend not to drink enough while I'm exercising.  If you are sweating out like crazy, you need to be replacing it as you go.  This may seem elementary, but dehydration is a problem in this country, mostly because of soda consumption.

If you have to go out in the heat of the day to get your exercise in, take an umbrella when you walk, to shield yourself from the sun.

One way to get some water in, if you have a problem is to eat a lot of watermelon.  It's a great source of hydration, if nothing else.

Be careful out there in that heat!

Losing Momentum

I've fallen into a little rut.  I have been exercising with the things I've been doing lately, but not any structured exercise; I haven't for a bit.  I haven't increased my food intake, only making a few bad choices.  I gained a pound and a half this week.  I keep playing with that pound and a half.  Back and forth, back and forth, just teetering, and not any momentous movement either!

Gotta get back in the gym and the basketball court.  Wow, does basketball take the weight off me.  When I was playing 3-4 times a week, I lost fast.

My daughter's wedding is in January, so I'd be happy to be in a smaller size.  I know I'd feel better.  I've already picked out a dress, and that needs to be a non-weight motivator.  It's something tangible and real.  You can't always see the weight going, but you can really see it in your clothes... BTW

My pants are falling down!  I have two nice pair of pants that are falling off of me.  I can hardly wear them out anymore.  So, with all the activity I've had lately, moving furniture and boxes - well, maybe it has put on some muscle, and that weighs more than fat.  Maybe some inches are going.  Here's hoping!  Back to exercise.  It worked.

Gaining ... UGH

Weigh Day.  I gained one and a half pounds.  I have been getting plenty of activity this past week, but I did cheat and eat fast food last night.  That was ridiculous!  Right before weigh day?  However, we were exhausted, and neither wanted to cook.  Our weekend and this week are flying by with all sorts of activity.

Sometimes you need junk to remind you that it's bad and doesn't taste the same as it used to.

It makes your fingers swell from the salt.

There are better choices.  I should have at least chosen Subway.  That's our go-to for healthier fast food.

I just have to forgive myself and move on.  Period.  Moving ahead!
